WASTEWEIGH
Market Leading Waste Load Management
Challenging landfill reduction and recycling targets are squeezing margins in waste management, driving demand for precision load monitoring solutions to boost efficiency. With several thousand units installed across the UK and Europe, VPG Onboard Weighing is a leading specialist in overload protection and payload optimisation solutions designed specifically for the waste sector.
WasteWeigh provides robust, reliable on-vehicle weighing to an exceptional level of accuracy, ensuring refuse collection and waste transport companies can maximise every load without the risk of exceeding legal limits.
Accuracy You Can Trust in All Conditions
WasteWeigh 1155 and WasteWeigh 1300 are onboard weighing systems tailor-made for waste collection and recycling vehicles of between 17 and 32 tonnes. Engineered for accuracy and reliability in all conditions, these durable products provide continuous weighing throughout the journey, using up to eight load cells to deliver outstanding accuracy of ±0.5% FSD or better for gross, net and individual axle weights.
The two options share a long list of features and benefits as standard, but offer a choice of different indicators (DIN mount or full colour touchscreen) and slight variations in capabilities.
WasteWeigh 1155
The WasteWeigh 1155 indicator is designed to fit a DIN radio slot but can also be dash mounted. It is simple to operate, with a full list of standard features such as real-time load delivery or collection tracking and Packer Plate Shutdown, and support for all optional extras excluding CCTV integration.
Unique to the 1155 version is intelligent Barrier Control, which automatically pushes the rear compacting mechanism of a refuse truck forward to redistribute the load so the weight limit on the rear axles is not exceeded.
WasteWeigh 1300
WasteWeigh 1300 features a dash mount indicator with full colour touchscreen for ease of use. 1300 units come with additional safety and surveillance capabilities compared to the 1155, such as support for up to three CCTV cameras.
A live video feed from the rear of the truck meets safety regulations on visibility during loading. The 1300 dash mount display combines CCTV images with real time weighing data, giving the operator everything they need to observe progress without leaving the cab. This enhanced visibility and monitoring not only improves safety, it reduces the potential cost of repairs and downtime arising from accidents.
Highlights
Axle Watch
Weight data is displayed for individual axles, alerting the driver of any imbalances in load that could potentially lead to an overload infringement.
Packer Plate Shutdown
When the net or gross vehicle load limit is reached, the compaction unit is automatically shut down to prevent any further loading. The unit can only be switched back on using an override key switch, which should be held by an authorised person.
Barrier Control (1155 only)
When load limits on the rear axle are near to being reached, Barrier Control sends a signal to the compression unit to sweep forward, redistributing the load.
CCTV Safety and Surveillance (1300 only)
CCTV has been shown to dramatically improve safety standards in refuse vehicles. Support for up to three cameras meets legal requirements for rear visibility during loading, helps to reduce accidents and damage, and supports monitoring from the cab.

VPG Connect - Flexible Oversight
A frequent complaint we have heard from bulk haulage professionals over the years is that having displays mounted in the cab only is impractical while on site and, during tipping, potentially dangerous.
In response to these concerns and expanding on our 511 FreeWeigh display option, our 1155 BulkWeigh system is compatible with our VPG Connect solution, which sends data to mobile devices via WiFi. This allows operators to monitor data feeds on a smartphone or tablet safely away from the vehicle. VPG Connect also serves as a telematics solution, supporting real-time tracking of vehicle movements, time management, weight readings and compliance across a fleet.
