SWEEPER TRUCKS AND VEHICLES

Road sweepers play a crucial role in keeping our streets clean and our cities livable. But what members of the public don’t always realise is just how much dirt and debris these vehicles pick up on their routes, and how quickly.

For municipal street cleaning teams and private utilities services alike, load monitoring on sweepers is therefore essential. Not only does it prevent overloading, reducing wear and tear and maintenance bills, it also means operators only return to base to unload when capacity is maxed out, improving efficiency. That’s why most road sweepers on our streets these days are fitted with on-vehicle weighing systems. And VPG Onboard Weighing are the go-to supplier for sweepers large and small.

Maximise Efficiency with Accurate Load Monitoring

The volume and weight of debris a sweeper collects is unpredictable. Judging whether a sweeper needs to unload by volume alone is risky, as safe and legal load limits may have been reached long before the hopper appears to be full. On the other hand, measuring load weight rather than volume ensures sweepers do not return to the hub when they could feasibly collect more, boosting efficiency and minimizing trips.

This is the dual benefit of on-vehicle weighing. VPG Onboard Weighing’s patented inclinometer-based overload protection systems monitor loads against defined allowances for each individual axle, as well as gross weight, providing robust and reliable warning if limits are close to being reached. Our load cell-based systems, meanwhile, offer such pinpoint precision in real-time monitoring across the payload that data from them can be used to calculate time to capacity on an ongoing basis and therefore plan and adjust route schedules to maximise efficiency.

VanWeigh units are worth their weight in gold!

Nick HatchettStores Supervisor, Booth Dispensers Ltd, UK

I have just ordered our fourth VanWeigh system in two years for our growing fleet of VW Crafters. VPG Onboard Weighing fitters are polite, courteous and well trained in their knowledge of the units being fitted. Vehicles are left clean, tidy and ready for work.

The VanWeigh units themselves are worth their weight in gold. There is no fiddling about to add up weight, just load the vehicles and the unit does the rest. Drivers can see straight away if they need to alter their load to spread the weight.
